Frequently asked questions (FAQ) or Questions and Answers (Q&A):
01.)How to find the laptop battery you need:
First, select your laptop brand from the items menu on the left.
Then, select the laptop family or series
Finally, select your model number from the list.
02.)Why we find some suppliers have cheaper offers and said there is no problem? How about your P.T.C. quality?
Not all laptop batteries are created equal. You get what you pay for...
The number of cells, the cell design, the lithium-ion powder, even the manufacturing process all affect performance. Cheap batteries wear out six times faster than higher quality batteries, and not effient and not durable. We guarantee only highest quality laptop batteries.
Not all laptop batteries are created equal. There is a huge difference in quality between battery makers.
Most people are familiar with the quality differences of alkaline batteries versus heavy duty batteries. Alkaline batteries cost twice as much as Heavy Duty batteries but alkaline batteries last 10 times longer.
Computer batteries have a similar variation in quality. Cheaper laptop batteries use inferior, low grade battery materials that have a service life of 3 to 6 months. In addition, low-end batteries have an out-of-the-box failure rate as high as one in five.
If you have purchased one of these batteries, and are now in the market for another one, you know how difficult it is to return something when the vender has no phone number and you are responsible for the $50 cost of air shipping it back to the Far East to exercise the warranty.
If you are trying to minimize your costs, quality in battery materials represents the classic case where cheaper cost more and quality cost less.
It takes 6 low end batteries with a 6 month life to match 1 of our batteries with a typical 3 year service life.
Our P.T.C. sells only batteries with the highest quality components inside the battery pack, which provides a usual service life of 3 to 5 years (300-500 recharge cycles).
We use the same quality components inside our batteries as found in many OEM name brand batteries.
What’s inside a computer battery pack is what determines the quality.Today, just about every name brand computer battery is assembled in China including the other non-famous brands. But the key to quality is the components inside the battery pack. Especially the lithium-ion cells that actually hold the energy as well as the circuit board that transmits the data from the battery in communication with your laptop.
A laptop battery from P.T.C. features these key components:
- The longest running lithium-ion battery cells in Top-A-Grade;
- The industry’s best computer battery circuitry from leading suppliers;
- Hand assembled with ISO quality checks along the way at least 6-steps;
- A Full 2 Year warranty, Double the warranty of original name brand batteries!
With superior energy capacity, our mAh (MiliAmp hour and WHr ratings) often exceeds that of your original battery. (The higher the number, the better the run time). In any case, they will work flawlessly.
Every battery www.peerlessteco.com sells:
- is individually tested before it leaves the factory 100%;
- has passed the CE Certificate Approval Safety Standard to meet worldwide market;
- is backed by a full 2-year warranty from the date of purchase.
03.)SATISFACTION GUARANTEEAll batteries and AC adapters sold by www.peerlessteco.com carry aftersales guarantee.
We are so confident in the quality of the batteries we sell that if any defective ones, we will replace a new battery purchased from us. And you donnot need to return for exchange.
04.)BATTERY WARRANTYEach battery and AC power adapter is backed with a full 2-year warranty. Some laptop makers have shortened their battery warranties to just 90 days. Not us. If your battery fails to function during its first 2 years of use, we will send a replacement at no charge. The warranty does not cover shipping costs if a warranty replacement is required. This warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty does not apply to batteries that have been subjected to abuse or modified in any way, including changing the Windows operating system software on your laptop. Warranty is void if the warranty sticker has been removed from the laptop battery, or, if any internal components have been altered or modified.
Warranty replacement covers defects in materials or workmanship only. Gradual loss of charge capacity is normal for rechargeable batteries. A 70% charge capacity remaining after 1 year is considered normal and is not a defect and is not subject to a warranty replacement.
05.)CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TECHNICAL SUPPORTLaptop power and batteries in general can be confusing. We offers free phone support 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM [GMT+8].
Power problems with laptops can be due to malfunctioning batteries, under-powered AC adapters and mis-calibrated battery software inside your laptop. Knowledgeable support staff is available to assist you.
06.)How fast can we get your order to you?
We understand you need your laptop battery as fast as possible. Nearly everything we offer can be in your hands as quick as PAYMENT CONFIRMATION, and rank on producing management sheduel! Usually cargo will be shipped within 3-7 workdays after payment confirmation, for massive orders usually within 15 workdays. Very large orders may vary based specific quantity as required, or sometimes when if it's intensive orders requirements it will rank waiting on production management scheduels.
NOTE: Lithium Ion batteries have recently been upgraded from "Hazardous Material" to "Dangerous Goods" and expedited shipping costs have increased dramatically as a result.
NOTE: If an expedited shipment is delayed due to weather conditions or natural disasters etc. the arrival date may be delayed than as expected and the shipping cost will not refund.
07.)What if your new battery didn't fix the problem?
If you ordered a battery and it did not solve your issue - you either received a defective battery from us, or the battery was not the cause of your issue. If we sent a defective battery we will replace it with a brand new battery for free coming with your next pending order.
If your battery will not charge to 100% check as below information for more details:
If your battery will not recharge at all, but will still discharge correctly, you are likely experiencing a problem with your charge system. Most commonly this means your adapter is beginning to fail, or you have damaged the power socket on the side of the computer where the charger plugs in. In more rare cases you could have experienced a failure in the charge circuit on the motherboard.
Does your battery correctly discharge and recharge even though it does not reach 100%?
If your battery will discharge and recharge, but gets stuck at a percentage less than 100%, you may have a failed cell in your battery, a problem with your power management settings, or a software calibration issue
Windows can generate a “Battery Report” which will show the design capacity and the current capacity of your battery. For Apple users, you can find your battery health statistics in System Settings > Hardware > Power. These two numbers will almost always be slightly different, but you will be able to see if there is a substantial reduction in capacity. If the disparity is great enough your computer will recommend that you change the battery. If the short runtime bothers you a new battery will help.
Some research has shown that the total service life of a battery can be extended by not fully charging and discharging the battery. In some cases, your laptop will have a power management tool that can be set to restrict the amount of charge the computer gives the battery. If your computer offers this feature it is a wise idea to make sure the settings have not been changed to restrict the charge to a lower percentage.
There is also a chance that the computer's battery software is no longer correctly calibrated. This can be a result of swapping between batteries often, not rebooting your computer often enough or simply installing a new battery. Sometimes your laptop can have trouble distinguishing between a new replacement battery and the older worn out battery. The new battery usually is charging to 100% even though the power gauge software doesn’t correctly represent this.
Often with new batteries, the operating system is unable to correctly measure the charge in the new battery. Your battery may be fully charged, but the power gauge is giving you a false reading. This can be because of some stored data relating to the former battery. If your laptop battery is not charging to 100% you may need to calibrate your battery.
Laptop Battery Power Cycle:
- Power down the computer.
- Unplug the wall adapter.
- Uninstall the battery.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Re-install the battery.
- Plug in the wall adapter.
- Turn on the computer.
If the “Power Cycle” did not help, a full “Re-Calibration” might be needed. Below are the directions for calibrating the battery software:
Note: If your computer will not recharge the battery at all this calibration will not help. This process may cause the battery to fail permanently if you are unable to recharge the battery immediately following the discharge.
Laptop Battery Calibration For Windows:
- The goal is to run the battery to zero percent, and for the computer to shut off without going to sleep or going into hibernate mode.
- Unplug your laptop from the wall.
- Change the “Power Plan” > “On Battery” > "Put the Computer to Sleep" settings to “Never.”
- If you cannot find these settings you can turn on an internet radio station, and let it play until the computer shuts off. (This is not effective in all versions of Windows)
- After the computer shuts down, plugging in the AC adapter should be required to turn the machine back on. Once the computer starts a message will appear asking if you would like to start in “Safe Mode.” Restart Windows normally.
- Leave your computer plugged in and charge it all the way from 0% to 100%.
- Remember to change your Power Scheme settings back to what they were.
Laptop Battery Calibration For Mac:
- Charge your battery to the highest percent available.
- Leave the laptop plugged in for 2 hours after you reach the topmost charge percentage.
- Unplug the AC adapter and use the computer until it forces the machine into hibernation mode.
- Let the computer stay in hibernation mode for 5 hours.
- Recharge the battery from 0% to 100%.
If the re-calibration is performed correctly and does NOT fix the problem a new battery should correct the issue.
Does your laptop say its charging to a certain percentage but turn off as soon as you unplug the AC adapter?
If your computer shuts down immediately after unplugging the AC adapter, your battery has failed completely. The most common reason this happens is that the battery ran out of power completely. If a laptop battery runs to 0% and does not get recharged right away the computer will not allow that battery to be used again. Laptop batteries have a computer chip inside each battery. This chip monitors the battery status and requests a charge from the laptop when required. The chip requires a small amount of energy from the battery to continue functioning. When the battery loses all charge the computer can no longer communicate with the battery, and as a safety precaution, the computer will not allow electricity to be sent to the battery. Without the software in the chip to restrict the flow of electricity there would be a potential fire threat, so the laptop refusing to use the battery is a safety feature. Unfortunately, this is a non-fixable state, and a new battery is the only solution.
If your original battery still charges and discharges but your Xtend replacement battery will not, the new battery may have run to 0% or it may be a defective unit. This may be an indication that you need to replace your AC Adapter. It is more difficult to charge a new battery than it is to charge an older "broken in" battery. If your AC adapter is not outputting the correct amount of power you can run your computer, and charge an old battery, but you may be unable to charge a brand new battery.
If neither battery will recharge, you are most likely experiencing a failure in the laptop charge system (AC adapter, charge port, or motherboard charge circuit).
If your new laptop battery is working correctly but not recharging - often giving the battery status message: "plugged in not charging" - try following the chart below. This will hopefully give you a clue of what could be your issue. Please note: the upgrade to Windows 10 can cause a permanent power management software incompatibility, which can lead to battery failure or incorrect battery readings in some models.
08.)What do the power ratings mAh, Volts, Whr and Watts mean?
Milliamp Hours or mAh represents the amount of stored energy in your battery. The higher the mAh rating the longer a battery will last. Many of our batteries have higher mAh ratings than original brand batteries. These higher mAh batteries are still 100% compatible with your laptop. It just means the higher capacity battery will last longer than the original.
Watts measures the amount of energy a device uses. This rating is commonly found on your monitor, laptop or other devices that pulls energy from a battery source. Watt Hour or Whr is the amount of power used over a period of time (1 hour). 1 Whr is equal to 1 Watt of power used for an hour.
Voltage measures the volume of electricity that is delivered to your laptop. Many laptop makers have produced batteries that have differing voltage ratings. There are no compatibility issues if your laptop and laptop battery have different voltage ratings. We carry both 11 volt and 14 volt versions of the same battery in case you are unsure.
Most laptop chargers are rated at 19 volts. The extra voltage a charger has over a battery is so the charger can simultaneously power the laptop and charge the battery (if they had the same voltage rating the charger would only have enough power to run the laptop).
Cells Voltage / Cell Formula Nominal Voltage
1 cell 3.6V or 3.7V 1 cell x 3.6 or 3.7V 3.6V or 3.7V
2 cells 3.6V or 3.7V 2 cells x 3.6V or 3.7V 7.2V or 7.4V
3 cells 3.6V or 3.7V 3 cells x 3.6V or 3.7V 10.8V or 11.1V
4 cells 3.6V or 3.7V 4 cells x 3.6V or 3.7V 14.4V or 14.8V
6cells 3.6v or 3.7v 6x3.6V or 3.7V 108V or 11.1v
09.)How long will my laptop battery run?
The average run time for most laptops is 1.5 hours to 4 hours depending on the laptop model and what applications are being used. Laptops with larger screens tend to have a shorter battery run time. Using the CD/DVD player, streaming media and the screen brightness use up the most battery. Dimming your screen even a lit bit can give you noticeably more battery life. Most laptops have a power management control panel where power use can be reduced while on battery power, such as reducing the brightness of your LCD screen.
If your battery only lasts for a few minutes, it might be time for a new battery. If your computer doesn't turn on at all, even when plugged-in, you may need a new laptop power charger.
